Therapeutics Overview
The Company is active in two fields of great medical need, cancer and Alzheimers disease. Its therapeutic programs aim at the identification, optimization and development of pioneering and innovative
- Small molecule Wnt-inhibitors for use in the treatment of colorectal cancer
The Wnt signaling pathway is believed to be causally related to several pathological conditions, in particular colorectal cancer. Three novel and proprietary drug target regulating the activity of this pathway are in our possession and the Companys most advanced small molecule Wnt-inhibitors block the interaction between Bcl9/hLgs and beta-Catenin, the key regulatory protein in this physiological process.
- Amyloid-beta (Abeta)-lowering small molecules for the therapy of Alzheimers disease
Amyloidosis and the formation of amyloid (senile) plaques in the brain are believed to be causally related to the development and pathogenesis of Alzheimers disease. Amyloid plaques primarily consist of aggregates of Aß42 (Abeta), a small and highly neurotoxic peptide. The Company has identified small molecules that have shown significant Abeta-lowering in the cerebrospinal fluid and cortices of treated animals.
